The International Grains Council (IGC) is an intergovernmental organisation concerned with grains trade. It administers the Grains Trade Convention, 1995. The IGC Secretariat, based in London since 1949, also services the Food Aid Committee, established under the Food Aid Convention 1999. Many of IGC's information services are made available to subscribers.
July 2010 Grain Market Report: Heightened market concerns about the outcome of this year’s harvests in some key northern hemisphere exporters, especially wheat and barley in the Black Sea region, propelled prices of grains and oilseeds upwards in July. However, rice markets weakened further over the period. Prospects for the next grains crop have been significantly affected by the past month’s adverse conditions in parts of the Black Sea region, the EU and Canada.
