International Grains Council

The International Grains Council (IGC) has a vacancy for a Market Analyst to join a team monitoring and analysing global grain and oilseed market developments. The position involves working in a small team, compiling and analysing relevant data, together with preparing reports and presentations. The team produces regular daily, weekly and monthly publications focused on market developments and forecasts, as well as special reports on relevant issues.

The IGC is an intergovernmental commodity organisation based in London, focused on proving independent and authoritative analysis of world grain and oilseed market developments to both member governments and subscribers, and fostering co-operation between governments and the industry. The Council recently joined nine other international organisations in the Agricultural Market Information System (AMIS), a G20 initiative promoting food market transparency and coordination of policy action.

The successful candidate will have a good university degree in agricultural economics or economics, and preferably two years' experience in market analysis, ideally in the commodities sector.  Recent graduates with strong qualifications will also be considered. Fluency in English and very strong analytical and writing skills are essential, together with a keen attention to detail. While the analyst will have a defined area of responsibility, the ability to work flexibly within the team is also important.
